Source: Fortnite system requirements for PC. Epic quality is a higher visual-quality tier, not a minimum for a Valor activity. The requirements page does not list a fixed free-disk-space figure; read the actual install size from the launcher and leave patching headroom.

Install, accounts and anti-cheat

  • Deploy through the Epic Games Launcher.
  • Test the actual assigned island and game mode with a student account before class. Account or content restrictions can block access even when the launcher works.
  • The client installs Easy Anti-Cheat's kernel-level protection and also uses BattlEye. Have IT approve the components the current client installs, not just the launcher: anti-cheat announcement and BattlEye and Fortnite.
  • From 19 February 2026, Epic requires Secure Boot, TPM and IOMMU for PC tournaments. New school devices should support all three and the intended mode should be tested.

Network requirements

Ports and protocols

  • 80, 433, 443, 3478, 3479, 5060, 5062, 5222, 6250, 12000-65000

Port 433 is printed on Epic's own page; the page does not explain it. Epic's article gives local Windows inbound rules rather than a complete school firewall policy, so resolve the actual flows by testing. See unblock ports for the Epic Games Launcher and Fortnite.

  • Published by Epic as the domains to allow on restricted networks. Allow anti-cheat and live match traffic separately.

Live match traffic

  • Epic does not publish a complete list of Fortnite match server addresses or a full UDP gameplay policy. Allow the Epic services above, then test a real island session on the school network.
  • Rocket League or Psyonix domain entries are not Fortnite requirements. Do not copy them across.

Before your first lesson

  • Install and patch, sign in, pass anti-cheat, join the exact island you plan to use, form the planned party and complete a session with the full class active.
  • Test voice only where school policy allows it.
  • Test tournament entry separately if tournaments are part of your programme, and record the blocked destination, time and client version for anything that fails.
